Having kept an eye on Julia Saner‘s impressive debut show season at Ford I could already tell she was going to be a model about whom I would be writing frequently. The precocious young Swiss couldn’t have gotten her career off to a better start than she did having won the Elite Model Look competition in 2009. Since joining Ford last summer she’s gone on to land the Valentino S/S campaign by David Sims and feature in a seventeen odd shows during New York Fashion Week F/W 11. She’s presently in Milan and amongst others has already walked for Gucci, MaxMara, and Etro.
It is with the understanding of Julia Saner that I introduce one of her latest editorials, which appears in W photographed Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer and styled by Giovanna Battaglia. Titled “Street Surveillance” the story places Julia on the sunny streets of South Beach opposite former Ford model Jacquelyn Jablonski (Supreme). Julia’s opening look, a Burberry Prorsum cotton twill trenchcoat, Stella McCartney sunglasses and hat, Burberry clutch, Céline cuffs, and Sergio Rossi sandals, sets the tone for story, which despite its title has nothing to do with COINTELPRO. Julia’s penultimate look, Céline crêpe jumpsuit, Prada sunglasses, Etro necklace, Blumarine necklace, Loewe cuff (right wrist), Etro cuff (left wrist), LaCrasia gloves, and Fendi sandals, has to be my favorite for its elegant simplicity and versatility that could work either day or night.
All told this editorial is a splendid way to conclude the issue, which is not without its own impressive stories not least of which includes one by Inez & Vinoodh. But, and it must be emphasized, that is for another day! Today it’s Julia Saner’s moment to shine and I’ve a sneaking suspicion it won’t be her last.
