Gucci celebrates its ninetieth year this year and to mark the occasion has collaborated on various projects including the “500 by Gucci” custom-edition Fiat 500 as well as the “Aquariva Gucci” by Riva luxury yacht. There is also the ongoing charitable collaboration with UNICEF not to mention the opening of the Gucci museum in Florence, which is slated for September. For today, however it is not daft luxury rafts and vanity exhibitions that concern me, but in fact is Ford’s Kate King looking resplendent in an all Gucci editorial by photographer Serge Leblon in Dazed & Confused June 2011. Photographed in the streets around Rome’s Palazzo Alberini, where creative director Frida Giannini relocated the house studio, the portraits provide a steamy window on the 1970s glamor of the Fall / Winter 2011 collection in action. For a nonagenarian Gucci looks fit and if not, then has an able senior caregiver in stunnah Kate King.
