If Diesel campaigns are all about cheek, then Dolce & Gabbana’s are all about correctness. Put another way, they champion rectitude in a world gone to the dogs or at least one perceived to have gone that way. A Dolce & Gabbana campaign is that older Italian brother who takes his junior to task for smoking that first cigarette despite himself being a seasoned pack-a-day smoker.  The latest serial installment of this morality play, the Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2011 campaign by photographer Steven Klein, features Ford Men’s Paolo Anchisi. The boy from Milano already has two other F/W 2011 campaigns to his name, Ports 1961 by Inez & Vinoodh and Costume National by Glen Luchford, and, readers will recall, memorably opened the Dolce & Gabbana P/E 2012 show in June. Shot in New York in April, the campaign’s backdrop is made to look more like postwar Napoli than la Bella Italia, which serves to emphasize the uprightness and togetherness embodied by the cast of ragazzi suited up in the Dolce & Gabbana collection. The resultant campaign for Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana‘s fall collection is nothing less than exquisite and made all the more so by Paolo Anchisi’s signature deadpan.

The Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2011 campaign also includes Ford’s Maryna Linchuk and Kate King.
