Ana Claudia Michels (Ford) claims the April cover of Harper’s Bazaar Brasil. We previously saw the Brazilian beauty on the runway for Riccardo Tisci in Paris for the Givenchy Fall 2012 show. However, this month for her cover shot by Brazilian photographer Gui Paganini, Ana Claudia sports nearly white hair with a center part. [House of Models]
An interesting tension between “brand managers” and editors teases out on Monday’s front page of WWD. Faced with dwindling advertising, editors have forged out into the market for other revenue streams, which has lead to some curious results. On the editors-as-brand-managers side, editor in chief of Condé Nast’s Bon Appétit, Adam Rapoport, illustrates how magazines are extending their expertise into the arena of direct commerce. The article begins with Rapoport selling Bon Apétit branded kitchenware on HSN, which a day later the TV shopping network completely sold all 20,000 units. On the other side, a note of caution is sounded by Vanity Fair editor in chief Gradyon Carter. “If you spend too much time on the peripheries of the magazine, rather than the magazine itself, it could be a problem at some point in the future.” What is clear, however is the role of the editor is changing and the magazines that strike the right balance will be those titles that flourish. Juergen Teller spoke with Tim Blanks in a lengthy interview appearing in the second issue of Style.com/Print. The interview is now available online in it entirety and makes for a fascinating read. From a production standpoint Teller’s work could not be basic — he shoots without assistants and wields a camera in each hand. The resultant work, whether for Marc Jacobs or Vivienne Westwood, is unrivaled in its intimacy. “Other people think it’s a stupid snapshot—I get that a lot—but it’s very precise. And it has to be very fast because if I’m on a job or something, I can’t just doodle around and days go past and I take a picture.” [Style.com]
David Lynch premiered his new video for “Crazy Clown Time,” which is the title track of his 2011 album. True to Lynch’s oeuvre, this video will have to be seen to be believed. [Noisey]
