Saks Fifth Avenue took the unprecedented step of removing a wall from the fifth floor of its flagship store in Manhattan in order to accommodate the footprint of a special in-store retail space for young designer Phillip Lim. The 825-square-foot shop-in-shop, the first of its kind for both designer and retailer, was christened Tuesday evening at an event co-hosted by Saks and W Magazine. The retail space represents a significant investment by Saks in what is essentially its merchandising future. [WSJ]

Chairlift have released a newly minted live version of the song “Met Before” off their album Something (Columbia). Recorded at an auditorium at New York University, the music video features an all-female a capella ensemble including Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek accompanied by Patrick Wimberly on guitar. The video is the second in a series of live alternate versions from the album and is preceded by “Sidewalk Safari.” Last month the band released a choose-your-own-adventure version of “Met Before,” which is not to be missed. [Vimeo]
