Hanne Gaby (Ford) and Julia Nobis (Ford) are tossed into a veritable feast of a fruit and vegetable story by photographer Richard Burbridge and stylist Robbie Spencer for T Magazine. A handful of the Spring 2012 runways, most notably Dolce & Gabbana’s, were given over to the abundance of the vegetable kingdom, which sprouts colorfully for this editorial taking 16th-century Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo as its point of departure. To that end a heaping mound of fresh produce all but buries Hanne Gaby in the opening frame in which she nearly impossibly wears a Dolce & Gabbana peplumed eggplant-print dress somewhere underneath it all. The story is truly a spectacle to behold, which thankfully Franc Fernandez did not style. [T Magazine]
Fiat 500 by Gucci is given the Nowness treatment in a short film by director Chris Sweeney in which various accessories and perfumes from the Italian house are fed into a vacuum molding production line and churned out as a 1:1 scale model Fiat kit. The film playfully literalizes the collaboration between the Italian car maker and the luxury goods producer, which if logically extended also ought to lead to Gucci Nail Polish by Fiat. [Nowness]
Speaking of collaborations, check your pulse a second time if Kris Van Assche for Lee doesn’t put you over 120 beats per minute. The acclaimed Belgian fashion designer renown for his hi-top sneaker joints amongst others has sunk his interpretive teeth into a selection of archival workwear silhouettes by Lee. The collaborative items will be available in July at select Lee and Kris Van Assche retailers. [Interview]
