Jeffrey Cares 2012, the annual fashion show and cocktail reception charity benefit held at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum in Manhattan, kicks off tonight in style. Jeffrey Cares raises money for the sake of four of the most worthy non-profit organizations that improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS and members of the LGBTQ community. Casting director Andrew Weir has long championed the event through his astute casting for the evening’s runway portion and tonight will be no exception. Expect to see plenty of guys from Ford including André Ziehe (Ford Men), Adrien Brunier (Ford Men), Logan McCrae (Ford Men Direct), and Ben Hunter (Ford Men) amongst others. Tonight will also herald the return of Aiden Andrews (Ford Men). [Jeffrey Cares]

Michael Kors’s darling extends far beyond the runway and into the $8.97 billion valuation of Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. of which he owns a 6.7 percent share. Without treading too heavily into the financial thickets of a story involving a secondary share offering, a high price-to-earnings ratio, and quarterly profit guidances, suffice it to say the man whose MK initials dangle from his popular handbags is set to earn a bundle of cash by week’s end. On Wednesday Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. will close its secondary offering of 25 million shares, which is expected to raise $1.18 billion for Kors and a handful of shareholders — Kors himself will take an anticipated $139.5 million. Translation: Michael Kors has set fashion’s gold standard for Wall Street valuation. [WWD]

Proenza Schouler, fresh on the heels of another two nominations for the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, were glowingly profiled in the Los Angeles Times over the weekend. Label designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez spoke with Los Angeles Times fashion critic Booth Moore about their handmade fabrics, the first-ever Proenza Schouler boutique on Madison Avenue, and their foray into the denim market. [Los Angeles Times]

The Hunger Games, that modest Hollywood novel adaptation, opened Friday banking $155 million at the box office, the third most successful opening behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) and The Dark Knight (2008). Catching Fire, the next installment of the novel trilogy by author Suzanne Collins, will see its film adaptation arrive in cinemas in November 2013. [MTV]
