Fashion Star debuted last night on NBC…wait, wait, please don’t doze off! Let’s be honest, after the Fall 2012 runway season, the daily fashion beat can feel slow. The show nevertheless is worth a look, which this page will duly leave to the Huffington Post. The last word, however goes to Lucky Magazine editor John Jannuzzi who last night tweeted, “i’m [sic] not watching, but apparently everybody hates fashion star [sic].” [Huffington Post]
Bob Recine, hair stylist, whose work yesterday was featured on this page in a Karmen Pedaru story by Mario Sorrenti, was profiled this week in a new video portrait on Nowness. Recine spoke with Alison Chernick in his New York studio about his creative origins in 1970s New York that continue to inform his work today. A 164 page monograph of Recine’s work called Bob Recine: Alchemy of Beauty was published last month by Freedman | Damiani. [Nowness]
SHOWstudio yesterday premiered the music video for the new Diplo track “Express Yourself” featuring Nicky Da B directed by Karmaloop TV’s @LILINTERNET and styled by @LILGOVERNMENT. Shot on location in New Orleans, the video trains its lens on dancers from the “sissy bounce” scene. Shaking, jiggling, bouncing, these Nola artists are in fact the perfect vessels for a song that revels in self expression. [SHOWstudio]
