A year ago Candice Huffine (Ford / Ford+) appeared on the cover of Vogue Italia and in the process both turned heads and made lasting impressions. W fashion and style director Edward Enninful was clearly impressed with Candice having worked on that cover and subsequently another two stories, all of which he expressly praised in his W editor blog last month. For Candice this is but a culmination of a conviction she expressed last summer during an interview with this page. “We [plus models] can really be in the forefront of fashion and we want to show you that.” A year later Candice’s career at the vanguard of fashion has flourished and none more so than for her feature in the June issue Vogue Deutsch. Elegantly photographed by Camilla Akrans with styling by Nicola Knels, the story borrows its title “Reich Der Sinne” from the controversial film The Realm of the Senses (1976) by Japanese filmmaker Nagisa Oshima and mercifully avoids its denouement (Oshima’s male protagonist has his anatomy severed). The editorial itself features richly printed silks that immediately call to mind the Far East. Candice for her part is firmly within her pomp bathed in warm light, aglow at having claimed her rightful place, the focal point of but another major editorial.
