So long as you weren’t battling actual record-breaking flooding in Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Upstate New York or fully consumed by the Manhattan-centric Irene news cycle and an apartment thereafter filled with PBR empties and Trader Joe’s Sweetened Dried Green Mango wrappers, then whatever clarity (or dignity in the latter case) you still possessed might very well have been trained on that brilliant Vogue Japan October 2011 story featuring Ford’s Crystal Renn by photographer Giampaolo Sgura and fashion director-at-large Anna Dello Russo that was previewed Monday on Models.com. There are beauty stories and then there are stories that are just plain beautiful. “Call Her Diva” was clearly both. But wait, there is more to the issue than that siren of story. Less than a hundred pages earlier (or later depending on your pagination persuasion) in the edition is a four-page fashion story by the same creative team featuring the Barneys New York Carine’s World F/W 2011 campaign model. This masculine-feminine story titled “A Policy of Flash” is surprisingly lucid for the normally maximalist Dello Russo, which is no doubt owed in large part to the all-Dolce & Gabbana styling. Crystal opens the story with a bang wearing a gold-sequin dress with white star details, hand on hip, and right arm extended fanning a bejeweled clutch. Two signature Dolce menswear-inspired looks are followed by a starry closer and a swing of Crystal’s hips. With an air of seduction and a dash of Milanese bravura Crystal seamlessly enters that special world created Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Both stories are a testament to the allure of Crystal Renn, which is set to continue into the November issue of Vogue Japan with another story by, you guessed it, Giampaolo Sgura & Anna Dello Russo.

Until Vogue Japan November 2011 hits newsstands, be sure to watch the below behind-the-scenes video from the “A Policy of Flash” editorial photo shoot featuring Crystal Renn.

  2. Love the backstage videos, because they show how an amazing model like Crystal works her magic, making small adjustments in her angles in order to keep offering her photographer gorgeouos shots like those above.

  3. Vikki I agree with you…Watching her making the movements, giving all those amazing poses, I just come to realize that´s why not everybody can be a model. There has to be something on the person. Crystal really works some magic. She is beautiful and cautivating.

      • Jaja I have to say I checked ur profile and saw another comment you made a year ago..so I supose it is you actually…in that case let me say congratulations on those amazing photos, loved u at the end of the video, and you´re so lucky to have the chance to work with Crystal Renn, if u can let her know she has a huge fan in Central America :D

  6. Wait. Wait. Wait. How did I miss this?! She is the 100% perfect girl. And if you’ve read Japan’s Haruki Murakami, not to be confused with the artist, Takashi Murakami, [or if you're clumsy, as in my case, and have them both confused with the prolific Finnish company, marimekko] I’m pretty sure he happened upon Crystal in this story: http://www.mat.upm.es/~jcm/murakami-perfect.html #glorious
