That the elegantly black and white gentleman’s magazine Varón is only four issues into its existence beggars belief. What the publication lacks in cyan, magenta, and yellow pigments, it more than accounts for in serious content and a dignified layout in this cultural moment of animated GIFs and Tumblrs by the thousand. The final story in the Autumn / Winter 2011 volume features Ethan James (Ford Men) and Paolo Anchisi (Ford Men) photographed by Paul Maffi. Titled “Dawn’s Early Light,” the Tom Van Dorpe-styled story takes a look at wintry morning ensembles with an obvious emphasis on outerwear. Below Ethan James is seen wearing a jacket and bandana by What Goes Around Comes Around, Dior Homme blazer, Gucci turtleneck, Dries Van Noten trousers, and as if one pair weren’t enough, a second pair of trousers by American Apparel. Paolo Anchisi is at his Maverick best, head cocked back, wearing a turtleneck by Acne, Tom Ford shirt, and a bandana by What Goes Around Comes Around. Today it is Ethan and Paolo, then whom we proudly hail in the twilight of 2011′s last gleaming.
