According to W editor in chief Stefano Tonchi the July 2012 issue of his monthly is meant to be a paean to the fashion stylist with each and every story striking a different chord in an overal grand hymn. Marie-Amélie Sauvé consequently teamed up with photographer Craig McDean to create an eighties-inspired editorial featuring Julia Nobis (Ford) and Kremi Otashliyska (Ford). In the story titled “Double Edge,” heavy metal accessories are set against delicate backdrop of “pretty hues, cozy knits, and shimmery sequined dresses.” To that end Julia opens the story (Slide 1) wearing a Marc Jacobs sequin-embroidered acrylic and nylon coat, American Apparel fleece blend hoodie, Louis Vuitton merino wool blend turtleneck, Jil Sander turtleneck, and accessories ranging from International Silver earrings and labret ring to a Maria Tash 14k white gold ring. Turn the page and on the right (Slide 4) Julia is joined on the left and right by Kremi and Maria Bradley (DNA) respectively. Kremi wears a Junya Watanabe at Anouschka vintage black leather jacket, Céline black silk dress, Magaschoni, beige cashmere sweater, Boss Black white cotton blend collar blouse, Maison Martin Margiela vintage black leather lege warmers, Isabela Marant black leather pants, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière shoes, and various rocker bling. Julia wears a Maison Martin Margiela beige wool sweater, fox-fur and leather sleeve gloves, black leather trousers, and belt, along with a Boss Black white cotton blend shirt, Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière shoes, and accessories too numerous to recount in detail. This is styling excellence writ large with Julia Nobis and Kremi Otashliyska making the edge doubly sharp.
