Nestled in the shadows of Citi Field in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens is an enclave of auto repair garages, transmission specialists, and junk yards. Although the manufacturing sliver of the New York City Planning Commission zoning map doesn’t appear in any of the glossy brochures for the recently built Mets stadium, it does figure prominently as backdrop for a shadowy Essential Homme November / December 2011 editorial featuring Linus Gustin (Ford Men) photographed by Marco Falcetta. Titled “Rough Terrain,” the Terry Lu-styled survey of Spring 2012 outwear opens with the Swedish model wearing a shirt by Prada underneath a carnelian wool cashmere trench by Bottega Veneta. The stand-out look of the entire story not surprisingly, however is a white cashmere trench coat by Salvatore Ferragamo worn over a wool sweater by Bottega Veneta, which appears below in the third shot. Against the drab surroundings of BCA Auto Parts at 126-43 37th Ave Corona, these coats are made to shine, but the same regardless would be true were the refined Linus Gustin standing 250 yards (228.6 meters) or so west at home plate.
