Last Friday we took a look at Mario Testino‘s “Gangs of New York” story from Vogue February 2011 that featured Ford’s Tao Okamoto. For that editorial the Japanese wore Rodarte, but today it is her feature for the Kenzo S/S 11 campaign by another Mario, Mario Sorrenti, that has caught this page’s attention. The campaign for Antonio Marras‘s Kenzo spring line extends the breathtaking landscape motif of recent campaigns by situating Tao and the other models along a rocky shore with crashing waves. In what is Kenzo’s fortieth year the line displays a commitment to the richly decorative traditions of Marras’s native Sardinia whilst at the same time drawing on Japanese printing techniques.
