A few things that we liked, coming out of Paris this week:

1. Hussein Chalayan’s dress-within-a-dress. The outer shell has a cutout in front, revealing a fitted sheath within. It reminds me of those ‘70s TV furniture consoles: self-framing, and nice-looking on the outside, with the main show on the inside.

2. Nicholas Ghesquiere’s satin, sci-fi-motif tops, juxtaposed with dangling crystal earrings.

 3. Rick Owens’ new shearling jackets, with a shorter crop and fuller arm than in the past. The buff and light gray colors may not be especially city friendly but they sure looked great on the runway, and picture the buff with blue denim.
