With an atramentous stare that conveys an enigmatic edge, Martin Pereyra is equally at home in the Daliesque contours of Comme de Garcon as he is skateboarding in Black-Scale street wear for their capsule collection through downtown Brooklyn. But the passion behind the fashion for Pereyra is music. Not only is his discography (which he collaborated on with a pretty well-known guy named will.i.am) exclusively used for Hallenstein Bros menswear, he has spun his turntables from Tokyo to Texas, Paris to SXSW. A unique blend of Parisian disco, funk, and soul, WhereisFenix (Pereyra’s moniker- what better imagery of a fallen bird rising from the ashes to success) can be found throughout NYC at multiple residencies, including Thursday nights at the chic Thompson Hotel and Saturdays at Fig & Olive. Think Daft Punk meets A-trak while unearthing the relic sounds of 80s synth pop, making it totally infectious and irresistible.
